Mykolai and Volodymyr
The guys are from Mariupol. They have already survived the war, bombing, and air strikes. Russian soldiers shot their father when the family was fleeing from the explosions. The guys were sitting in the basement without water, light, and heat for 26 days, making lamps from oil and cotton wool. Mother cooked food on the fire; Mykolai and Volodymyr chopped wood. Every day they sat down together to pray – they begged God to save them during each explosion. The boys wrote down their wishes on paper, which they should fulfill after the war. One day a shell hit the house where they were hiding in the basement. The family was forced to look for another shelter because of the fire. They say that they survived by a miracle, and their hometown became a continuous cemetery.
