Your time, your professional skills, your attentiveness, your reliability and your readiness to be there — that is what the children we support need. Children of Heroes Charity Fund provides long-term support over 17,000 children who have lost one or both parents to the war in Ukraine. As of 1 July 2026, the value of assistance delivered had reached almost $22 million (USD)
On average, 13–15 new children join the Fund every day. We work with families over the long term: education, psychological support and socialisation, humanitarian needs, medical care and case management. Our volunteers make that support broader, warmer and closer to the children and their families.

Why volunteers matter to the Fund

Behind every programme there is a great deal of day-to-day work: collecting and delivering humanitarian aid, running events for children, preparing information materials, translating presentations for partners, supporting a fundraiser, taking photographs and filming, finding useful contacts, strengthening the team with professional expertise.

Volunteering with the Fund is a way to join a large shared undertaking and a group of people who are committed to the mission and would rather shape the future than wait for it. You can help children see that there is an adult nearby who cares.

How can you help?

The Fund runs several volunteering formats. Some of them involve being there in person; others can be done remotely and combined with work, study or other commitments.

You can join any of these areas:

Warehouse support

Packing humanitarian aid, gifts and kits for children and families.

Helping to coordinate participants, hand out information materials and manage organisational tasks during the Fund's events.

Setting up peer-to-peer fundraisers, promoting the Fund's campaigns and bringing friends, colleagues, bloggers or communities into supporting children.

Writing, editing, design and preparing materials for social media, newsletters, presentations or information campaigns.

Helping to produce photo and video materials, visual content, digital tools or platforms for the Fund.

Translating texts, supporting communication with international partners and preparing materials in English or other languages.

Finding contacts, building databases, gathering information on events, media, partnership opportunities and useful practice in the charitable sector.

Helping with transport, accompanying deliveries or handling organisational tasks, if that is something you are able to do.

If you do not see your area on the list

but have a skill that could be useful to the Fund, tell us about it in the form.

Who can become a volunteer?

We are open to people with all kinds of backgrounds: students, specialists, entrepreneurs, creatives, translators, drivers, photographers, analysts, event organisers, communications professionals — and anyone ready to help responsibly.

What matters to us is that a volunteer:

Extensive volunteering experience is not required. Honest motivation, reliability and a readiness to work within the Fund's rules matter more.

Why is the form so detailed?

We work with children and families who have been through the loss of a parent. Child safety, confidentiality and ethical conduct are therefore non-negotiable conditions of that work.
The form helps us to:
Before we start working together, we ask volunteers to read the Fund's Code of Conduct and Ethics, its Child Protection Policy, its Policy on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, and its confidentiality rules.
This is part of our responsibility towards children.

For the children the Fund supports, every volunteer is one more person ready to offer help, to give their time, their warmth and their belief in the future. We believe that together we can build an environment around them where there is care, support and room for a real childhood.
