Anastasia and Kateryna

Anastasia and Kateryna’s family lived in Mariupol. They were very close with one another and enjoyed activities such as going on walks, fishing and hunting. The joys of everyday life ended when the war began. The family lost their father and husband – he was killed on the battlefield, defending the sovereignty of Ukraine.

Anastasia, Kateryna and their mother hid in a bomb shelter for an extended period of time. They had to sleep on the cold, damp floor and had little more than dirty potatoes to eat. The children began to get sick from the unsanitary conditions and poor access to food. Thanks to the support of the Fund, the family was able to escape to better conditions. They now dream of living in a new home and hope for a brighter future for Ukraine. One day, the girls hope to learn to play the guitar, dance and take part in sports.
