The Children of Heroes Charity Fund held an event for families of fallen and missing servicemen

On April 28th, an event took place in the city of Khmelnytskyi for families of fallen and missing defenders from the region. The event was organized by the Children of Heroes Charity Fund in partnership with the Department for Veteran Policy of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration. The event’s goal was not only to inform families about their rights and opportunities for interaction with state structures but also to create a safe space for receiving professional assistance.
Representatives from the regional administration, central bodies, and human rights structures participated in the event. Volodymyr Yuriev, Deputy Head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration, welcomed the participants and outlined the main areas of the regional administration’s work regarding family support. Inna Pikalo, Head of the Department for Veteran Policy, informed those present about the department’s activities and available support programs.
Following this, Andriy Demchenko, Deputy Head of the Central Regional Center of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, spoke about the headquarters’ work and the action algorithms in cases of missing servicemen.
Oksana Kizaieva, Representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, outlined the areas of work of the Ombudsman’s Office and spoke about the application procedure, also sharing examples of practical cases of response to appeals with the participants.
Skrypniuk Anna Vasylivna, Head of the Department for the Protection of Children’s Interests and Counteraction to Domestic Violence, raised issues of combating bullying, domestic violence and providing legal support to children in difficult life circumstances.
Throughout the event, families actively interacted with professional experts, receiving comprehensive answers to questions regarding legal protection, searching for the missing, social guarantees, and procedures for obtaining statuses.
At the end, a psychologist from the Children of Heroes CF gave a talk on “A Child’s World After Loss: How to Be There and Support.” It was a heartfelt conversation that helped participants feel emotional support and solidarity during a difficult time.
The Children of Heroes Charity Fund continues its systemic work with families in the regions to ensure children have access to psychological assistance, education, and a stable environment necessary for development, even in times of uncertainty.
