“Childhood’s Umbrella”: Children of Heroes Charity Fund Launches Initiative for Children’s Day
May 31, 2025

On June 1st, International Children's Day marks the launch of "Childhood's Umbrella," a new charity initiative from the "Children of Heroes" Charity Fund, already backed by 10 businesses.
For the fourth year, Ukrainian children are living in a reality where a carefree childhood has become a distant memory. This is especially true for those whose parents will never return home. Children who have lost parents due to the war often face profound trauma, demanding special attention and support. For them, childhood isn't about games; it's a daily struggle with the echoes of tragedy.
That's why the "Childhood's Umbrella" initiative aims to raise 1 million UAH. These vital funds will create rehabilitation camps where children can rediscover joy and the carefree spirit that happy childhoods should embody. In these camps, professionals help them process their loss, manage anxiety, and restore their faith.
"Our Fund currently cares for almost 13,500 children from whom the war has taken the most valuable thing – a father or mother. Most of them no longer remember what a carefree childhood feels like, and some never even got to experience it. Up to 15 new children join the Fund daily. As long as the war continues, this number will constantly grow. Therefore, our Fund makes every effort to ensure every child feels joy and self-confidence again, as loss makes them withdraw and feel lonely. After attending the camps, children visibly improve; they become more active and smile more. The camp is a safe space where our beneficiaries genuinely rejoice and feel like ordinary children again. The Fund is grateful to our partners and donors whose contributions help return a sense of true childhood to these children. It is our shared duty to open 'Childhood's Umbrella' for them and protect their right to happiness," — states Tetiana Novytska, CEO of the "Children of Heroes" Charity Fund.
In these camps, children connect with peers who have faced similar challenges, fostering mutual support that helps them overcome feelings of isolation. The camp offers a secure environment where our beneficiaries can again feel like ordinary children. It's their chance to return to the normal life they so richly deserve.
Ten businesses have already joined the "Childhood's Umbrella" campaign, not only supporting the initiative but also inviting their guests to contribute to this worthy cause. Choose the way you prefer to help:
