Sonia
Sonia joined the Children of Heroes Charity Fund in 2022 while she was living in the UK. Her father was a defender in the Territorial Defense of Mariupol. The loss of her dad changed the girl’s life forever, but the Fund’s support helped her keep faith in herself and continue moving forward.
Sonia is now studying Business Administration at an American university and is already in her third year. She admits that without the Fund’s support, she likely wouldn’t have had the opportunity to pursue higher education abroad.
While under the Fund’s care, Sonia received not only material but also psychological support. Psychotherapy became a crucial step on her path to healing after what she had personally endured and the tragic events in her native Mariupol.
After returning from the UK in 2022, she couldn’t even afford paint or a canvas. But thanks to the Fund’s support, she was able to continue developing her creativity. Her artwork has already been showcased in New York, Washington, Amsterdam, and other cities.
Sonia now works as an SMM manager for a music store while continuing her studies. She says that being under the Fund’s care made her feel truly supported and looked after – and that helped her get through the hardest moments of her life.
“When you’re under the care of this Fund, you feel that people truly care about you and do their best to ease what you’ve been through. I’m endlessly grateful to the entire team of the organization,” says Sonia.
