Recovery Camp Kicks Off in Lviv for the Fund’s Beneficiaries
On October 28, 2024, the “Recovery Camp” – a charitable camp for children of Ukrainian military personnel and fallen defenders – began at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The initiative is organized by the University’s Social Development and Civic Initiatives Center and the university’s trade union with the support of the charitable funds “Children of Heroes” and the “Ukrainian Educational Platform.” This initiative is part of the “Support Projects for Orphans and Children in Difficult Life Circumstances” program by the Ginger UCEF Foundation.
Natalia Lurie, marketing director of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund, expressed gratitude to the camp organizers and stressed the importance of education in rehabilitating the children. She thanked the Social Development and Civic Initiatives Center and Lviv University for their support in this effort, emphasizing that the fund’s primary mission is to nurture a new generation. This generation will be a crucial part of rebuilding Ukraine after its victory.
During the opening of the “Recovery Camp,” Julian Beck, head of the university workers’ union, emphasized that the project’s primary goal is to combine learning, recreation, excursions, and work on significant projects. He noted that this format has already proven its effectiveness, as the camp had been held previously with positive results. Beck also expressed sincere gratitude to all the partners who contributed to the implementation of this initiative, highlighting that their support is crucial to the camp’s success and the continuation of such projects in the future.
The camp program consists of several thematic blocks, such as “Finance and Startups,” “National Patriotism,” and “Military-Patriotic Education.” The children gain knowledge about personal finance, the history of money, banking and non-banking services, insurance, fraud, and financial security. In addition to learning, excursions to a bank, a fire station, and training on first aid and mine safety are included. Participants will work in teams to develop business projects, which they will present at the end of the camp.
The project will run until November 1.
