Quality Education: A Path to the Future – How the Children of Heroes Charity Fund Helps Children Make Informed Choices
Quality education is the cornerstone of building a successful future. That’s why the Children of Heroes Charity Fund dedicates significant attention to developing its educational initiatives. The Fund strives not only to provide learning opportunities but also to help children who have lost one or both parents due to the war regain confidence in their abilities.
Thanks to the Fund’s support:
- Over 3,000 children are learning foreign languages.
- 834 children attend creative workshops.
- More than 2,000 are working with tutors.
- 349 children are preparing for the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT).
- 729 are mastering the basics of programming.
- 298 children are undergoing school readiness programs.
Currently, the Fund cares for nearly 13,000 children, 60.7% of whom are school-aged. It is during these formative school years that initial ideas about the future take shape, and important questions arise: what to become, how to build one’s path. Therefore, the Fund focuses on providing access to quality educational opportunities that meet the children’s needs and help them make informed choices.
Career Guidance: The Key to Self-Realization
To make a successful career choice, a child needs support, information, and time. That’s why the Fund’s beneficiaries have access to a range of programs and projects that promote their professional self-determination:
- ZNOHUB: A platform for free online preparation for the NMT in four subjects. Beneficiaries receive not only support from teachers but also access to video lectures, notes, and tests.
- Ernst & Young Partnership Program: this includes individual mentoring and career guidance consultations. It helps children better understand themselves and their strengths and prepare for university admission.
- Individual Leader Trajectory from the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy: a scholarship program for 10th and 11th-grade students. It offers a blended learning format, mentoring support, and the development of practical skills in leadership, financial literacy, strategic thinking, and information security.
- Lviv Polytechnic National University Partnership: Through this collaboration, children get acquainted with the university’s faculties, interact with professors and students, and learn more about different specialties, studies, and student life.
- MBA Kids: An educational project that introduces children to entrepreneurship, leadership, communication, financial literacy, and trends in the labor market. Teenagers learn to think critically, plan, research, work in teams, and adapt to change.
Educational Partnerships: A Chance for Talented Children
Career guidance is just one component of our educational programs. The Foundation also establishes partnerships to ensure that talented beneficiaries can study at their desired educational institutions. One example of such cooperation is the signing of a memorandum between the Fund and Pechersk International School (PSI Kyiv). The first student from the Fund to attend was Oleksandra Antonenko, a creative and inquisitive girl who enjoys drawing, studies English, and dreams of a career in web design.
In April, another important memorandum was signed with Mariupol State University. The partnership includes the provision of scholarships and grants, preparation for admission, participation in academic mobility programs, access to educational platforms, and psychological support.
Every educational initiative of the Fund has one goal: to give children who have experienced loss the strength to continue their educational journey. We strive for them to be educated, purposeful, happy, and to remain in Ukraine to build a country worthy of their dreams.
