Iron Squad: New Horizons for Children of Heroes from Ukrzaliznytsia
Thanks to a partnership between the Children of Heroes Charity Fund and JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, the Fund’s beneficiaries have been given the opportunity to participate in the Iron Squad project. This initiative is incredibly important, as it focuses on developing talented Ukrainian youth. The project helps children gain valuable life experience, find support, and build interesting and useful connections.
One of the project’s largest and most impactful events was a recent international summit that brought together over 200 participants. More than 50 Ukrainian teenagers who have been living in EU countries and Moldova since the full-scale invasion began joined the summit. Among the participants were also 10 children under the care of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund.
The summit program was incredibly rich and inspiring: children had the chance to attend special workshops, meet successful Ukrainians and members of the Ukrainian national team preparing for the Invictus Games 2025, learn more about their country’s history and culture, participate in a symbolic tree planting in the Carpathians, and attend concerts by famous Ukrainian performers. These were unforgettable days that offered everyone incredible experiences and important insights.
The involvement of our beneficiaries in such projects is a crucial part of our psychological support and socialization programs — a key focus of the Fund’s work. Since the Iron Squad project began, there have been 14 shifts, with over 70 of the Fund’s beneficiaries participating.
As of 2025, over 4,000 of the Fund’s beneficiaries have attended various camps. These trips help children find solace, reduce stress and anxiety, gain unique experiences, and build confidence that they can achieve their desired goals.
