How to Recognise and Respond to Emotional Distress in Children: Expert Discussion under EBRD Community Initiative in London
Timely support for children who have experienced loss, trauma, or prolonged stress is critical to their emotional recovery and long-term development. This is why experts in psychology, psychiatry, and trauma-informed care are coming together to share practical approaches and real-world experience.
On April 15, at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) headquarters in London, the Children of Heroes Charity Fund (“Fund”), together with partners, will hold a panel discussion covering the topic How to Support a Child in a Timely Way: Recognising Signs of Emotional Distress and Taking Action. Practical Guidance from Experts. The discussion is organised for staff and invited guests as a part of fundraising efforts for Children of Heroes Charity Fund under EBRD Community Initiative.
The discussion will bring together the expertise of the Fund’s psychologists, international specialists, and the wider professional community around early identification of emotional challenges in children. The focus is on recognising warning signs, how to talk to a child about difficult experiences, and how to act so that support is both timely and effective.
Particular attention will be given to the practical experience of Children of Heroes Charity Fund psychologists, who work daily with children who have lost parents due to the war, helping them rebuild a sense of safety, stability, and trust in the world.
The event also highlights the importance of collaboration. The partnership under EBRD Community Initiative creates opportunities for more structured support for children and families, and supports the integration of trauma-informed approaches into corporate environments and wider communities.
The exhibition of drawings by Fund’s beneficiaries will be on display at EBRD during the same period. Through their artwork, children share their emotions, experiences, and perspectives, offering a deeper understanding of their needs.
The Children of Heroes Charity Fund team, together with partners, continues to work to ensure that every child who has experienced loss receives timely, professional support.
