Give the Holidays to Yourself and the Children of Heroes: 6 Kind Ideas from the Fund’s Partners
St. Nicholas Day is a time of waiting for miracles, when we look for gifts for our loved ones and, at the same time, want to do something truly meaningful for others. This year, Ukrainian brands have launched charitable initiatives that transform regular holiday shopping into support for the beneficiaries of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund — children who have lost one or both parents due to the war.
You can choose chocolate, a book, festive decor, or new clothes — and part of the proceeds will help Children of Heroes receive gifts, psychological and material support, as well as opportunities for rest and recovery. Our goal is to provide 15,550 children with holiday gifts.
Below are six ideas for combining care for yourself and your loved ones with care for the Children of Heroes.
Idea 1. Enjoy some chocolate
Lviv Handmade Chocolate, together with the Children of Heroes Charity Fund, has launched a winter charity campaign aimed at raising UAH 500,000 for mental health and recovery camps for children who have lost one or both parents because of the war.
These camps help children gradually regain their inner balance, make friends, learn to talk about difficult feelings, and once again feel like children — to play, laugh, and dream.
20% of the sales of selected items are donated to support the Children of Heroes. In addition to product-based contributions and direct donations, the initiative also includes other activities throughout November and December on the brand’s social media and in Lviv Handmade Chocolate cafés and shops.
Idea 2. Decorate your home for the holidays
MEREZHKA, together with the TET TV channel, has created the «Christmas Runner» — a festive table decor piece that combines the beauty of Ukrainian tradition with a charitable mission.
The runner’s pattern features symbols of coziness and Christmas Eve, when the whole family gathers at one table. It acts as a bridge between generations — a piece that reminds us of what truly matters: closeness, the warmth of home, and the strength of family, even when it goes through the hardest trials.
This amount from the sales of the runner will be directed to the Children of Heroes Charity Fund. The project runs from 30 November until the end of sales. By buying the runner for your own table or as a gift, you help other families preserve the feeling of home and the magic of the holidays.
Idea 3. Learn something new
The Old Lion Publishing House and YASNO have implemented a joint educational and charity project — a book by Dr. Shini Somara, «Energy: The Science Around Us.»
This book explains, in simple language, how energy works all around us and offers a series of experiments that can be done at home together with children.
UAH 20 from every copy sold is donated to the Children of Heroes Charity Fund to support children who have lost one or both parents as a result of the war.
You can purchase the book on the Old Lion Publishing House website or in bookstores across Ukraine. In this way, one book becomes both a gift for your child and a real contribution to the future of the Children of Heroes.
Idea 4. Get a festive manicure
For those who love little beauty rituals, the LUNAmoon brand has prepared a limited collection of gel polishes called «Christmas Story.»
From 21 November to 31 December, 15% of sales of the special «Christmas Story» box are donated to support the programs of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund.
Your festive manicure thus becomes not only part of your holiday look, but also a gesture of support for children, who now especially need a sense of care and stability.
Idea 5. Refresh your wardrobe
Ukrainian clothing brand CHER’17 is donating the funds raised from the sale of selected items — including pieces from its collaboration with Kyiv Metro — to the Children of Heroes Charity Fund.
By updating your wardrobe for yourself or your loved ones, you simultaneously help to:
- provide Children of Heroes with essential support;
- promote a culture of responsible consumption, where style is combined with charity;
- show that Ukrainian business can and should be part of positive change.
With your purchase, you support a Ukrainian brand and the children whose stories are now closely intertwined with the story of the entire country.
Idea 6. Support the gift drive
More than 14,900 children are under the care of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund, and each of them deserves a festive morning, their own gift box, and the feeling: «someone remembers me.»
You can contribute any amount to the gift drive — even a small donation, when combined with thousands of others, creates a powerful wave of support. Every contribution means one more child who will receive a gift and feel that their holiday truly matters.
Make a donation and give the Children of Heroes faith in miracles.
