Children of Heroes Charity Fund and Ministry of Education Unite Efforts for the Education and Future of Children
The Children of Heroes Charitable Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MES), led by Oksen Lisovyi. This step opens up new opportunities to ensure unimpeded access to quality education and development for children who have lost one or both parents as a result of the war.
Together with the Ministry, the Fund’s team will work on:
- Implementing educational initiatives—from one-on-one tutoring and career guidance programs to specialized courses that will help children find their calling;
- Developing and conducting research into the educational needs of children who have experienced loss, in order to create effective support programs;
- Enhancing the qualifications of educators who work with children who have lost parents;
- Engaging businesses and international partners to expand educational opportunities—from internships to other long-term programs;
- Organizing educational camps that combine learning with psychological components.
“We cannot replace the dearest people these children lost as a result of Russian aggression. But we must do everything possible to ensure these children receive access to quality education, psycho-emotional support, and experience the joy of childhood that Russia is so intent on destroying,” said Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
A pilot project aimed at improving the vocational education system will launch in the Khmelnytskyi region in the very near future. This will be the first step in implementing joint initiatives designed to create conditions for the children’s growth, self-realization, and confidence in the future.
“We see a great demand among our beneficiaries for quality education and new knowledge. For them, learning is not just a path to a profession but an opportunity to feel supported and have faith in their own abilities again. This is why supporting educational opportunities is our shared priority. We are sincerely grateful to the Ministry of Education and Science and Oksen Lisovyi for their readiness to work with us to expand opportunities for the Children of Heroes,” noted Nataliia Lurie, Director of Strategic Development at COH CF.
The Children of Heroes CF is convinced that education is the foundation of the children’s future and the key to the country’s recovery. Together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Fund seeks to create conditions in which the Children of Heroes receive not only knowledge but also the support to grow up strong, confident, and ready to build a free and successful Ukraine.
Background Information: As a result of the war, thousands of children are forced to study online but lack the necessary technical equipment. With the support of the Children of Heroes CF, over 5,000 children have already received computers or tablets for their studies, and over 12,000 have received stationery for school and art classes. However, the needs remain significant: in 2025 alone, $2,226,539 is needed to secure educational opportunities. These funds will be directed not only to ensuring access to online education but also to various courses, career guidance programs, and language classes.
