Charity Fund “Children of Heroes” and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Sign Cooperation Memorandum
The Charity Fund “Children of Heroes” and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine have joined forces to enhance support for children who have lost one or both parents as a result of the war. The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation is an important step towards creating a systematic approach that will ensure children of Heroes have appropriate conditions for development, education, and socialization.
The joint effort includes implementing initiatives in several key areas:
- Comprehensive assistance to children, including psychological support, educational opportunities, humanitarian, and medical aid;
- Conducting joint activities: from training and awareness-raising events to summer camps, excursions, and projects that will promote children’s development and their integration into society;
- Advocacy for the rights of children who have lost parents due to the war, specifically increasing attention to the needs of these children at the state level;
- Interaction with international partners, such as exchanging experience, attracting resources, and implementing joint assistance programs.
For the “Children of Heroes” CF, signing the Memorandum is not only the official consolidation of cooperation but also the opening of new opportunities for scaling up assistance. After all, 80 children who have lost their parents join the Fund every week, and the need for support is constantly growing.
Despite the active support of partners, the scale of the needs remains significant. In 2025 alone, to provide for children’s education and development, $2,226,539 is required; for psychological support and socialization, $1,970,258; and for humanitarian aid, $747,019. The war has forced thousands of children to study online, often without computers or stable internet access. Thanks to the Fund’s assistance, over 5,000 children have already received computers or tablets, and more than 12,000 have received school supplies and creative materials, but the demand for educational, psychological, and humanitarian support continues to rise. This is why the partnership with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs is of strategic importance, as it will allow for the expansion and greater sustainability of assistance programs.
The Fund is grateful to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for the trust, partnership, and shared vision of the goal—to do everything possible so that the children of Heroes have a chance for a dignified, safe, and happy future.
