The Children of Heroes Fund was founded in March 2022, just days after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
The idea came from Ukrainian businessman Danylo Pasko, who lost his father at a young age. He brought together a team united by shared values and a clear mission: to support children who have lost one or both parents in the war.
The initiative quickly gained support from fellow Ukrainians, public figures, and entrepreneurs. In April 2022, the Fund officially began its work.
The Fund’s mission is to honor the memory of the fallen Heroes by supporting their children. We aim to create a safe and empowering environment where they can build a bright future for themselves and for Ukraine.
Our goal is to give the children of the fallen Ukrainian Heroes hope, opportunities, and confidence on a pathway to a happy future for the sake of a free and thriving nation.
To ensure transparency and strong oversight, we established a Supervisory Board in Ukraine. It includes experienced leaders as well as a former Fund’s beneficiary who represents the interests of the families we support.
The Children of Heroes Fund also has representative offices in the United States and the Netherlands. In each country, a local Board of Directors oversees operations and supports effective international management.
I really hope this donation reaches good hands that are in need of it. To whoever my money goes to, I want you to know that your family member(s) who died for your beautiful country are heroes. They will be remembered and honored as national heroes. They died for you and your country’s future. This donation comes from Alexander, but you can call me Sasha. I am a man from Sweden, the country with the same colors as Ukraine!
Sophia and Anna, both 9 years old, are best friends from New Jersey, USA. Anna's father is Ukrainian American. During their summer break, the two girls came up with the idea of making and selling bracelets to raise funds for kids in Ukraine. They walked around their neighborhood with a poster and their handmade products, knocked on doors, and talked to their neighbors. One morning, they made over $40, which they decided to donate to Children of Heroes.
From one Finnish woman who lost her father in the war against the same enemy in 1944, 79 years ago. We all hoped: never again. Thank you for this fund that I can contribute to!
Some nights, I cry for the people in Ukraine. Why are there death, destruction, and devastation all across the world? Why can’t the people of the world just live in harmony and have fun? Humans are supposed to be the most intelligent of all creatures, yet it is us who are intent on killing each other and the world in which we live.
I give to Children of Heroes because, as a psychologist in the US, I know that war – instigated by a madman who believes his Russian Empire has the right to murder and plunder a free nation and crush democracy – leaves more destruction than just dead soldiers in its path. Children of war need support, love, mental health programs, and hope. Children of Heroes provides stability to children living in the rubble of a war they did not create and cannot resolve.
Raised by my daughters Sofia (8) and Maya (6), selling some of their toys with the help of their neighbor Emilia (9). They wanted to do what they could to help children in Ukraine who are in need. We send them our love, support, and a bit of cash.
