Art Therapy, Sports, and New Friends: How Children of Heroes Spent Their Time at Wonder Camp
100 Children of Heroes attended Wonder Camp in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Over two weeks, they received comprehensive psychological support and participated in engaging activities that facilitated their emotional recovery.
The camp’s program was packed and diverse. One of the essential areas was group and individual sessions with professional psychologists. Children participated in fairy tale and sand play therapy and learned to perform bodily breathing exercises.
The youngest participants enjoyed finger painting, creating sand sculptures, and attending puppet shows. Older children had the opportunity to discuss important life topics such as relationships with others, self-acceptance, and setting personal boundaries. It helped them rebuild their self-esteem and learn to interact with others.
In addition to therapeutic activities, the camp had an active sports and animation program, including sports games, table tennis, trampolines, and quests. Such activities both contributed to the children’s physical recovery and helped them rediscover the joy of active games and socializing with peers.
Wonder Camp has concluded, but its impact on children’s lives is invaluable. The program helped them regain self-belief, cope with emotional difficulties, and find new friends who will continue to support them.
