Children of Heroes and Vira Team Up to Provide Psychological Support for Fund’s Beneficiaries

Starting in September 2024, the Children of Heroes Charity Fund has partnered with Vira, a Ukrainian online psychology platform. Through this collaboration, children who have lost one or both parents due to the war, along with their guardians, are receiving professional psychological support to help them navigate their traumatic experiences and adapt to their new realities.
Since September 2024, Vira has been working with four families who are beneficiaries of the Children of Heroes CF. These families are supported by psychologists certified in the proprietary CCT (Cue-Centered Therapy) method. To date, approximately 150 individual therapy sessions have been conducted with both adolescents and women who have lost their closest relatives in the war. The sessions were profound and gradually guided them from denial and inner turmoil towards acceptance, stability, and the realization that life goes on.
Beginning in April 2025, Vira is implementing a phased increase of free sessions for the Fund’s beneficiaries. Each month, at least four more families, each with their own unique story, pain, and needs, will be added to the ongoing therapy program. Families who have already benefited from the platform’s services are sharing heartfelt expressions of gratitude. One mother mentioned that for the first time in a long while, she felt truly heard. Another confided that with the psychologist’s help, she has learned to speak about her loss without shame or fear.
Psychological support is a key priority for the Fund. Over the past three years, the Fund’s team of psychologists has already provided more than 24,000 consultations to beneficiaries and their guardians. Additionally, to help children express their emotions, the Fund regularly organizes various forms of art therapy.
